Communication and Social Networking

Posted on Tue, Nov 27, 2012

We have several methods of communicating information we wanted you to be aware of all of them...

There are so many options for communicating these days and we are trying to take advantage of what we can. As of today, we have the following...

1) Website (

This is generally used for basic inforamtion, upcoming events, calendar, pictures, Troop documents, contact information, etc. and is a generally the 1st place I would go looking for informaiton on the Troop.

2) Facebook page(!/pages/Texas-Troop-5/247964528559194)

A way to promote Troop 5 and keep in touch with our alumni.

3) Twitter account (

Instant updates and publishes to the Facebook page above. Users can set these updates to push to their phones, email, or apps, so it's an easy way to push informaiton quickly to all those interested.

4) Yahoo Group (

At this point, this is used for group emails and the calendar. We have some issues with this as some people cannot send to or receive these group messages, but we are continuing to update it.

We want you to take advantage of all of these methods of information sharing and participate in the process. The only thing we ask is that you do not use the scouts (under 18yrs) last names as first name and last inital is sufficiant. This policy is to protect our scouts.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns...
